"Amarillo Slim” Preston
Thomas Austin Amarillo Slim Preston was poker’s most renowned professional in the 1960’s and 1970’s, a fast-talking, poker-promoting gambler from Texas. He won the WSOP in 1972 and made many TV appearances on Johnny Carson and news programs. He remained active into his 70’s, mainly with Pot Limit Omaha, Pot Limit Hold’em and No Limit Hold’em. " He was the 1992 inductee in the Poker Hall of Fame (at age 62). Preston has not competed in major Las Vegas tournaments in recent years. He resides in Texas. He is attributed with the poker cliché, “Look around the table. If you don't see a sucker, get up, because you're the sucker.”
