Basketball is a popular Las Vegas sports book sport, covering the professionals and the college teams. The lines are in the same format as for football, with totals and spreads (or “point lines”), and also a money line. Futures bets are always available for titles and tournaments, particularly the NCAA tournament in March of each year. Look for lots of exotics when tournament times roll around, either for college or the pros. Women's professional basketball is also covered by most sports books. This is a promising place to start out in sports book handicapping, as it is not so intensely followed and wagered upon as the older leagues, but the information is readily available, and the players are consistent, as in the case of the male pros.
