Bryce Canyon National Park is a relatively small park, with three distinct climates (due to its elevation that varies 2,000 feet). There is a forest of junipers and Piñon Pine up high, with Ponderosa below, and spruce and fir below that. This topography also leads to a diverse array of wildlife and plants. Bryce’s steeple-like rock formations are called “hoodoos” and are unique. Lots of other formations, like a dozen natural amphitheatres and several slot canyons, can be found there as well. Stargazers find this place particularly attractive, as there are no earth-bound light sources for many miles. During the day, the visibility into three different states can be as far as 200 miles. About a million and a half people visit Bryce Canyon every year.

Cedar City is the gateway to Bryce Canyon National Park. Bus tours that take visitors to both places are available.
