Crazy Pineapple Super Hold'em
Crazy Pineapple Super Hold’Em is one of several examples of variations and blends of Texas Hold’Em and Omaha, which is another hold’em game. To understand what is special about the rule variations, first you should remind yourself of the “normal” rules of the hold’em games, if you do not remember them.
Plain old “Pineapple Hold’Em” is a middle road between Texas Hold’Em and Omaha. Players receive three cards to start with. They are allowed to discard one of the three. Then play continues just as in Texas Hold’Em, but with stronger hole cards.
Now “Pineapple” goes crazy when the rule is modified so that players do not have to discard the third hole card until after they see the flop and everyone gets to bet. A “lazy” version of crazy pineapple, called “Tahoe,” permits players to hang on to the third hole card through to the end. But only two hole cards can be used in the final hand. Almost always crazy pineapple and Tahoe are played as high-low split pot games.
Now crazy pineapple goes to “Super Hold’Em” by relaxing the rule about the three hole cards. Under “Super Hold’Em,” all three hole cards can figure into the showdown hand.
