Cryptologic, like Microgaming, was there at the beginning. Established in Canada in 1995, the company has since moved to Ireland. Like Playtech, the company's shares are traded through the London Stock Exchange. The company was started by two brothers (the Rivkins) who had first designed a secure online financial transaction system (hence the company's name), and then found themselves in the online gaming market. The WagerLogic subsidiary developed the gaming components and distributes the software licenses. Cryptologic's gaming software is best known for its life-like gaming lobbies.

Cryptologic invented its own algorithms for encrypting financial and personal data, ensuring secure data processing and fostering widespread public acceptance of eCash solutions for online payment applications.

Like the other major software providers, Cryptologic's platform comes in both a downloadable version and a browser-based flash version. Cryptologic's origins in financial transfer technology led it to develop programs that work seamlessly with many different types of financial transfers, including e-wallets, credit cards, e-checks, and bank transfers. Funds are not accepted from players in the United States until a change in the legal system takes place to make online gaming legal. All Cryptologic casinos are subject to monthly payout percentage audits and periodic review of their RNG.

Approximately 100 casino games are available, including most forms of blackjack and other table games, as well as video poker machines and slots. The series of slot machines known as Marvel Comics Superhero is a favorite with the public. Like its main competitors, Cryptologic's software offers realistic 3D graphics, animation, multiple player functions, and several user preferences that a gamer can control. Progressive jackpots via Cryptologic software have been very popular as well. The Millionaire's Club progressive slot holds a record for largest jackpot so far at more than $8 million.

Important clients of Cryptologic include InterCasino (the first customer in 1996 and still one of the world's leading Internet casinos), William Hill plc (the leading UK bookmaker) and Littlewoods Gaming. Playboy's entry into online gambling opted for the Cryptologic system, as did the World Poker Tour. Both the Isle of Man and Alderney have certified the software system as meeting their regulatory requirements.
