EcoCard is a brand name of PSI-Pay Limited, a UK-based company that is subject to regulation by the Financial Services Authority. Founded in 2006, Surrey-based PSI-Pay is a rapidly growing “Electronic Money Institution” that must comply with UK and EC financial requirements and restrictions. The EcoCard brand has been in existence since 2000. Like all such companies, EcoCard permits account holders to deposit funds, receive payments and withdraw money online. Deposits from a credit card carry a 2.9% fee. Wire deposits are free. Withdrawals are charged a fee of €10. To send money to another EcoCard account, the fee is 1.5% unless it is to a merchant account, which is free.

The basic account level, called “Classic” has certain limits for balances and transactions, but should be adequate for the average online player. In such cases EcoCard can issue a physical debit card or create a “virtual” card, which amounts to an on-line pre-paid card. Withdrawals are normally effected via the debit card to which a 2% fee applies.

Transactions are secure (SSL and TLS), and customer information is keep strictly secret. Account holders are able to acquire complete transaction and account histories. For large-limit transactions, EcoCard requires an upgrade of the account type (from “Classic” to “Silver” or “Gold”), which also involves more confirmation of customer identity and financial institutions (for reasons of regulations involving money laundering).

EcoCard is available to US residents, but not for funding online gaming accounts. Accounts may be opened in a variety of currencies, including US dollars, pounds sterling and Euros.
