eNETS is a subsidiary of NETS, which is owned by local Singapore banks. Since eNETS’ founding in 1985, it has become one of the leading providers in Singapore’s online debit card payment processing industry.
The company processes nearly a million transactions per day and its services are offered to customers using the online banking services of certain Singapore banks. The online funds transfer works similar to a debit card transaction in that it makes use of real time processing.
eNETS has subsidiaries in Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Macau, and while they offer bi-lingual services, British English is their primary language. However, the localized form contains a Chinese and Malay dialect and is commonly referred to as “Singlish”. Since eNETS is used in Asian markets, an eNETS account must be created in Singapore Dollars (SGD).
The company boasts being the only one to offer a direct debit payment gateway that is particularly popular with the numerous online gaming sites that it serves.
Servicing over 14 000 merchants, eNETS offers an easy way for an online player to control spending when all transactions are limited to the funds in their bank account. When a player makes a deposit, the funds are directly and instantly debited to the account. A daily cap of $3,000 is imposed for the safety of its customers. Merchants have no access to customer eNETS accounts.
