Almost every online casino will accept EntroPay, which is a “virtual” pre-paid Visa card. The electronic money company is based in England and is subject to regulation by the UK’s Financial Services Authority. Through an association with Visa, it is able to receive funds from a customer, either by credit/debit card or bank transfer, and “create” a Visa card for that person online. A real, plastic Visa card can also be issued for an additional fee.
The EntroPay virtual Visa card functions on the Internet just like any other Visa card. The main difference, of course, is that it is pre-paid, so that the credit available is limited by the amount the customer has transferred or “loaded” into the account.
Apart from any other fees charged by other banks or card companies, EntroPay charges 4.95% in fees for loading a card. Online purchases made with the card do not generate fees to the account holder. But when an owner wants to withdraw money from a casino account back into EntroPay, they charge a $3 fee.
EntroPay is really just an entity that holds a customer’s money and gives him or her access to it through the Visa system. It is not a bank. It is permitted to have more than one EntroPay account.
Residents of the United States are not permitted to have EntroPay accounts because of laws passed by Congress and a few of the individual states.
Before opening an EntroPay account a casino customer should inquire with the online gambling establishments of interest whether Visa funding transactions have been going through without a problem. Some customers in the past have complained of a high rejection rate, presumably due to the US regulations that try to keep people inside the US from gambling over the Internet.
