Everest Poker is a fairly new (2005) and simple site, but very popular with people who love Hold'em and Omaha. The software is available in sixteen languages. The site caters to an international clientele with many country-specific events. This site is owned and operated by Ultra Internet Media, S.A., which lists its address in Kahnawake, Quebec. It also has offices in the Caribbean and Las Vegas. The company is privately held and does not disclose publicly its ownership, management or financial condition. It is licensed by the Mohawk Territory of Kahnawake.
Everest Poker does not accept players from the United States under current legal conditions.
Everest Poker uses Grand Virtual software, which offers the platform in several languages, together with modern, three-dimensional graphics, fast and stable navigation, and full functionality. Grand Virtual provides full statistics on tables in the game lobby and data on hands played, including complete hand histories. Multi-table play is supported. Unlike many software packages, the Grand Virtual platform lets players pick the seat position they want, relative to the dealer.
Texas Hold'em and Omaha are offered. Limit and Pot limit stakes are available in all games, plus No Limit in Hold'em. Stakes levels are available from $0.02/$0.04 to $20/$40 (Limit Hold'em) or $20/$20 (Pot Limit Omaha).
There are always Hold'em games at all levels, and most Omaha options. Traffic is high (7,000 cash game players at peak hours as of March, 2008) and growing.
Everest Poker takes a lower than average rake. It is 4% up to a cap of $3. If the pot is less than three big blinds, there is no rake. Likewise, "no-flop-no-drop" policy applies. Low micro-stake games do not generate rakes. The cap is $1 for two-person games.
Everest Poker has offered relatively few tournaments and freerolls, but that is changing. Still, most tournaments have a relatively low buy-in. At peak hours, 16,000 tournament players will be at the site (as of March, 2008). Everest promotes and sponsors the Everest Poker European Championship.
Even at medium and high stakes, the Hold'em action is said to be very loose and even crazy at times. The addition of $50 blind NL Hold'em provides good profit opportunities for skilled players. Viewed-flop percentages in general are over 50%.
The Summit Points program is a simple loyalty program, awarding 1 point for each $1 or fraction raked (max of 3 points per hand). Eight points per dollar of tournament fees are awarded. Summit Points qualify the players to clear bonus dollars, enter special tournaments, and acquire Everest merchandise. There is also a $50 referral bonus.
Deposits can come from credit cards, payments processors (NETeller, Moneybookers, Click2Pay, paysafecard, ECO Card, 1PAY) or by check or bank transfer. Withdrawals are processed through the payments processors or via bank transfer.
Everest Poker provides quick and useful responses; however, all support is provided by email.
Grand Virtual sites all must belong to the Online Gaming Alliance (OGA) and Everest Poker is no exception. The OGA has established industry standards for fairness, competence and honesty (in addition to its mission of promoting Grand Virtual sites). The Random Number Generator in the Grand Virtual software has been certified by Technical Systems Testing (TST) as fair and random. Everest's record of financial responsibility and honesty has been good. On the other side of the question there is the lack of disclosure of information about the site's ownership and management, and its licensure by a laissez-faire jurisdiction.
