Football attracts more sports book action than any other sport, including baseball. The teams are always displayed in pairs in the football area of the board. Professional and college football games are separated. The bottom team is the home team, and the number to the right of the team is its betting number. To the left is the total and spread. The spread is the lesser of the two, and indicates the favorite. The terms of the point line (i.e., against the spread) are stated to the right of that, often without the minus sign, to save room. If terms are not there, presume that they are -110. The betting on the favorite is always negative. An underdog is indicated by a plus number or as even money (“EV”). If there is a money line, it will be to the right of that, with a designation like “M/L.” Sometimes a book will post numbers on just the first half of a game, offering a second bet at half time on just the second half.
Exotics may be proposed on the board and sheets as well. Like straight bets, they are at --+--110 unless stated otherwise. All “totals” betting is at -110 unless stated otherwise. Futures bets are available for conference and division championships, both at professional and college levels.
