Gold Coast

The Gold Coast Hotel and Casino is Spanish colonial or mission-style hotel one mile west of the Las Vegas Strip on Flamingo Road. It is close to Chinatown, and also provides a free shuttle for guests to its sibling property on the Strip, The Orleans. It offers 711 rooms with large LCD TVs, a fitness center and wireless high speed internet (for an extra charge). Gold Coast also has a 70-lane bowling center on the property, with its own pro shop, bar and lounge. There is also a respectable video game arcade, mainly frequented by the under-21 crowd.

Casino

The casino at Gold Coast covers 120,000 square feet, three times the size of many off-strip casinos. A full offering of table games is provided, including the usual blackjack, baccarat, craps and roulette, together with the more recently introduced games like Caribbean stud, Pai Gow Poker and Let it Ride®. There is also a non-smoking poker room, open around the clock, with eight tables of Hold'em, Omaha, stud, hi-lo, and also the many variations of each, at a variety of betting limits. Gold Coast is proud of its 800-seat bingo parlor, and also offers players a keno lounge and a 160-seat race and sports book. The book has the usual daily lines and wagers and 67 televisions, two of them being huge projection screens. Throughout the casino the player can choose from among 2,100 slot machines and video poker machines.

Entertainment and Bars

The Gold Coast Showroom is a small theater-like venue with a stage and over 100 seats. The casino books live musical artists and comedy shows almost every week. There is also a dance hall that frequently books salsa and other Latin music, swing bands, country rock, and New Orleans-style jazz for the dancer or the listener. Other bars and lounges are spread throughout the property so the thirsty never have to trudge too far for a drink.

Dining

The Cortez Room is an informal steak house, offering the upscale menu of steaks and prime rib, chops, seafood and chicken that guests have come to expect from a Las Vegas hotel. Arriva is Gold Coast's northern Italian entry, with classic dishes like lasagna and chicken parmesan. The Monterrey Room offers light dining and snacks at any hour of the day or night with a coffee shop menu and a full Chinese menu as well. Gold Coast's buffet offer-ing is Ports o' Call, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, all in a buffet format with lots of selections. Captain Charlie's Oyster Bar adds oysters and other seafood to the culinary lineup. Ping, Pang, Pong serves regional dishes from all over China. Finally, fast food choices include Seattle's Best Coffee, Kate's Korner Ice Creams, Krispy Kreme, and Terrible Mikes (hot dogs, burgers, sandwiches and pizza -- at the bowling alley).

Health and Beauty

The Gold Coast offers a fitness center to its guests, including weights and cardio equipment. There is also a full service beauty salon and a barbershop on the premises.

Pools

The outdoor pool is a large 46 feet by 20 feet, with a Jacuzzi along side.

Meetings and Conventions

Gold Coast can provide up to 30,000 square feet of space for anyone planning a special event or meeting involving a small group, up to about 700 attendees. The latest in sound and light equipment and audio-visual presentation technology are available. Catering, ample free parking and staff support are other pluses.
