Callaway Golf Center
Girdled by premium resorts and bleached desert terrain, the 40-acre golf resort along Sunset Road combines the beauty of Nevada's classic allure, with the convenience of a South Strip location. Under ten minutes by car or bus from the throbbing beat of a city that refuses to sleep, Callaway Golf Center is ideal for the golfer seeking both the buzz and the beauty of Las Vegas.
Few golf resorts are as fine-tuned as the Callaway. With night-lit courses, convenient local accommodations and a sprinkling of on-site practice amenities, the gregarious club welcomes players old and new on a 24-hour basis. Launched in 1997 – the heyday of Nevada's golf club developments, the Callaway Golf Center drew attention from far and wide, largely because of it's central location. The legacy of veteran architect Bob Cupp added to the Callaway's charisma, with a strategic 9-hole desert-links plan promising a best par none test for even the most adept of hitters.
Promoting itself as “Las Vegas' Premier Practice Facility”, the Callaway is proud to offer a superior 113 booth driving range (hitting down onto twelve greens) styled to compliment the scenic character of it's course. Visible targets allow hard-hitters to accurately gage the distance of practice shots and the slight elevation over twelve manicured greens makes for a testing tee-off. Two chipping greens and a separate putting green extend the appeal of Callaway to youngsters – many quite content to hone their swing, while dad enjoys the par-3 nine. Club rentals are pretty budget friendly, available to kids 13+, or younger if accompanied by an adult.
“The Divine Nine” is Callaway Golf Center's meticulously maintained verdant gem. Measuring 1,230 yards from the championship tees, the nine-hole layout may be a little on the bijou side for those who like their yardage well into the triple figures, however the course gains greater respect upon the discovery of strategic bunkers and deceptive slopes. Water hazards come into play on the 2nd and 3rd respectively, offering challenges of up to 185 yards. The fairways might be short, with few forced carries across the undulating course but there's more than an ample smattering of hidden tests to ensure you keep your eye on the ball.
