Las Vegas Country Club
Nestled within the stylish urban Winchester quarter of Las Vegas, the Las Vegas Country Club has an elite appeal befitting of it's position at the heart of a multi-million dollar real estate community. Embodying the history and elegance of old time Las Vegas, the course is a privilege to play, regardless of your handicap.
Blessed with a tranquility you usually only get with rural clubs, it might come as a surprise to know that Las Vegas Country Club sits within an affluent, yet immensely urban area in the heart of Sin City. The Las Vegas Hilton towers majestically opposite the main entrance, with the sprawling Las Vegas Convention Center just a block away. For convenience to attractions, the L.V Country Club is unsurpassed by any other, yet offers a serene environment and cultured fairways usually associated with the exclusive Lake Las Vegas courses.
Founded in 1967, Las Vegas Country Club was the earliest central course to be built in Las Vegas, assisted by the veteran architect Ed Ault, father of Brian T. Ault (ASGCA.) At 7,200 yards, L.V.C.C became an instant hit, melding traditional links with the beauty of semi-natural parkland and undulating, low-lying plains. Despite it's relatively flat topography, the L.V.C.C course boasts more than it's fair share of tactical holes and bunker-lined challenges. Back in 2009, the course was closed down for eight months, for extensive renovation work. Both the drainage and layout issues were addressed, many believing the Country Club course to have become a little outdated. Brian T.Ault and Ron Garl were handed the task of reviving Las Vegas Country Club, while remaining sympathetic to the original work of Ed. Today, you'll find it lusher, greener and smoother than ever – Bermuda grasses and a slope rating of 128, adding to it's appeal. With tidy panoramas of the Las Vegas cityscape, you'll also enjoy the effort that has gone into making L.V.C.C a thoroughly modern 18-hole challenge.
Las Vegas Country Club continues to remain as popular today as it did in the 60's, despite the opening of the nearby Las Vegas National and Wynn Country Club. It's timeless appeal is largely due to it's forging strong bonds with the locals, welcoming people from all walks of life. Tying in a plethora of exclusive amenities such as tennis courts, a banqueting hall, fitness suite and spa, the L.V.C.C also attracts those seeking exceptional service and stunning grounds within which to hold weddings, business conferences and local galas.
With a par 72 rating, Las Vegas Country Club's manicured course presents a delightful set of two anchored nines in the traditional links style. Bunkers might be the least of your worries, since the course features a few strategically laid out water features (some at the foot of the greens) designed to throw you off guard. Hole 3 could pose the trickiest, since you'll need some considerable elevation on the ball to launch it over the miniature lake and the hole is guarded by bunkers. Hole 6 is a fairly straight up shot with the chance for a birdie, while holes 9 and 14 again pose considerably large water obstacles. With a spectacular backdrop of the Las Vegas cityscape and a course recently refined to make the most of the landscape, it makes perfect sense that the L.V.C.C continues to overshadow the competition!
