Is the Ace of Spades your lucky card? It might not require an edge-of-your-seat stint at a gaming table to find out, since the 18-hole Legacy Golf Club offers it's own interpretation of the lucky card on the 13th hole. Trying to clear it in two is a pot luck event that challenges both the amateur and professional whom frequent here.

Carved from a distinctly rippling desert landscape along the Western fringe of Henderson, Nevada, the Legacy Golf Club enjoys a convenient situation less than 15 minutes from the animated Vegas Strip. Clustered by the lofty Spring Mountains to the South and the Las Vegas urban sprawl to the North, Legacy Club boasts magnificent views, dramatic from every aspect of the course, along with sloping greens and a distinctive Vegas theme.

Devised by the Bachelor of Landscape Architecture – Arthur Hills, the Legacy Golf Club opened it's doors to the public in the summer of 1989. Anticipation had been buoyed by Hills' previous installations at Palmetto Dunes Resort, South Carolina, and Point O' Woods at Benton Harbor, Michigan. Both marked a stark departure to the worn traditional links layout with multi-level elevations and over-sized bunkers – characteristics which remain popular among even Hills' newest works. Legacy Golf Club's picturesque situ was further enhanced by rolling fairways and man-made lakes, to mirror the beauty of the Spring Mountains at nearly every shot.

Encompassing 7,323 yards from the pro tees, Legacy offers a par-rating of 74, combined with a demanding slope rating of 137. Four tee boxes open up the course to a wider range of shots, although you may need a quantitative supply of varying irons for the compromising “Devil's Triangle” at 11, 12 and 13. The par-4 eleventh requires precision and patience, with a 444-yard stretch, combined with some of the most dramatic undulations on the course. Shorter, yet no less deceptive, 12 and 13 hide a multitude of sins – including those steep pit bunkers. Hole ten remains the most amusing and elusive of the course, with tee boxes styled upon card suits. The par-3 paves the way for a serious test of your analytical skills, with a wide fairway and three-tier final green.

True to the affable charm of Las Vegas, Legacy Club welcomes with open arms and polished white smiles from every nook. Caddies jump to attention as soon as vehicle engines are silenced and rarely take no for an answer. The bar staff are bright, articulate and highly knowledgeable to the extent you may score a few tips if you're visiting the clubhouse bar prior to your game. Families are well catered for within the laid-back Ranch Grille, where children's menus feature everything but the iconic American cheeseburger and an exceptional wine menu compliments the rustic steakhouse cuisine. Timeless, elegant and geared toward preserving a little slice of old Las Vegas, this is once course whose legacy remains an inspiration to all who play it!
