A hidden gem amid soaring peaks and vast canyons, it's a wonder anyone knows it's here at all. Enclosed within a ring of hills at Pahrump, less than 45 minutes from Las Vegas, Mountain Falls presents a magical course of undulating fairways and vivid parkland - open to golfers of any skill level.

Founded in 2002, Mountain Falls Golf Club is the result of a design collaboration between the notorious architect group Nicklaus Designs and prolific planner Cal Olson. Responsible for developing the first nine of Mountain Falls, Cal Olson drew upon the success of previous installations at Skylinks, California, to devise a demanding terrain of dramatic slopes and fast greens, while remaining sympathetic to the character of the landscape. Nicklaus Designs brought in their trademark compliance with traditional links set-ups, blending it to compliment the unruly nature of the Cal Olson course. Mondale pine trees provide ample seclusion from desert force breezes, which often have a tendency to blow in from the East.

Mountain Falls' 18-hole masterpiece measures 7,082 yards from the back tees, with additional yardages starting around the 5,415 yard mark. With a par rating of 74 and four tees per hole, you'll find a set suitable regardless of handicap. The pace shifts considerably along the lie of the land and locals recommend bringing your back-up irons, so you aren't blown too off course by a deceptive slope or gully. At holes 7 through 9, the game picks up pace in the most exposed part of the course, since fewer trees guard against desert breezes.

Relatively isolated and off the public transport route, Mountain Falls enjoys far less distractions when it comes to play – most of the guests being locals from Pahrump and it's outlying areas. The drive up to Mountain Falls is as breathtaking as rambling over it's expansive course, taking in the parched beauty of Nevada's deserts and the brick red majesty of it's Spring Mountains. On the approach to Mountain Falls, it's possible to spot Mount Charleston, the eighth highest peak in Nevada and when you're up on the course, you'll be able to spot the glittering outline of Las Vegas itself on the horizon.

Spectacular vistas and meticulously manicured lawns characterize the aesthetic appeal of Mountain Falls, however the public club boasts more than it's own fair share of exceptional amenities, including an elegant banqueting hall and family grill restaurant. Situated within a traditional timber build overlooking the first tee, Mountain Falls Grill offers a casual setting and tantalizing menu options to suit even the most finicky of kids. Happy Hour runs from 4 pm – 6 pm Monday to Sunday, with over sixteen meals included among the discounts. Relax and relish the welcoming nature of Mountain Falls, where the service is so outstanding, you'd expect the club to be private!
