Blessed by the serenity that only an isolated desert oasis can bring, Mesquite, Nevada, lures golfing enthusiasts with a never ending terrain of sand pits, sheer drops and vast canyons. The Pines Golf Club at the heart of Mesquite lies little more than forty minutes from Las Vegas, courting attention with it's uniquely sympathetic layout upon the natural terrain and a demanding second nine for even the most competent golfing ace.

Located within the North East quarter of Mesquite, along a spectacularly dramatic canyon ridge, The Pines Golf Club affords all encompassing views across the Grand Canyon National Park and the Kaibab National Forest. For stunning vistas, The Pines is unparalleled by any other club within a ten mile radius, however there is far more to it's draw than breathtaking scenery. Designed by the stalwart architect William Hull in 1989 (whom was also responsible for Utah's “best test of golf” at Valley View) The Pines blends overtly traditional links throughout the first nine, with a thoroughly modern obstacle course in the latter half. It also enjoys prestige as the oldest golf club in Mesquite – of which there are now seven. To call The Pines deceptive would be an understatement, for the second nine ropes in water hazards, fast greens and compromising bunkers that will surely cause just a little head scratching. With a par 72 rating and a standard five tees per box, the course is however playable, no matter your handicap.

Spanning 6,813 yards from the back tees, The Pines Golf Club is more than a match for the perma-planned strategy courses so prominent around Sin City. With an undulating landscape of brush and tumbleweed, the course is as gratifying as clearing the 15th hole with it's heady elevation of 114 feet. Having said that, you will find the public course to be forgiving in places. The first nine is a pleasure to savor with low-lying wide fairways, bermuda greens and several par 5 openers. A sprinkling of sand dune bunkers and rippling miniature lakes characterize the first nine as a gentle, yet attention seeking first half, paving the way for the unforgiving second nine on the rear-side.

Renowned for it's courteous service and welcoming hospitality, you'll find The Palms Clubhouse as soothing as the film-set landscapes surrounding Mesquite. Situated adjacent to the Virgin River Hotel and Casino, there is an abundance of choice for relaxation. Savor the views from the timber-clad club-house with a well-deserved beer of glass of wine, or revel in the convenience of on-site activities such as tennis, bowling and a 10,000 square foot casino – The Palms has it all!
