A lowland oasis of segueing lakes and lush Bermuda greens have transformed the foreground of this former cattle ranch, into a bountiful par-72 desert/ valley layout, primed for professionals, yet equally as accessible to those starting out.

Occupying a vast expanse of rugged plateau, beneath the soaring magnificence of Sheep Mountain, it's a wonder the area didn't already possess a championship standard golf course, open to all. The birth of Silverstone Golf Club came in 2001, following several years of planning by ex-Nicklaus senior designer Bob Cupp and Par 4 Golf Management. Beset amid 100 acres of au naturel contours, ravines and rock formations, the exclusivity of Silverstone is further enhanced by it's positioning at the heart of an upmarket, gated real estate community built during the course's development. Today, Silverstone is as much a community treasure, as it is a lavish public club.

Nestled on the mountainous North seam of Las Vegas, the drive from Silverstone Golf Course to the multi-faceted Strip takes less than 15 minutes by car. You'd do well to save on holiday fuel expenses, since Las Vegas City operates an extremely reliable bus network – several operating right up to the Silverstone Ranch Estate. Abounding hotel choices five minutes from Silverstone include the Aliante Casino and Hotel, along with The Cannery.

Offering a choice of 3 courses/ 27 holes, Silverstone Golf Course is one of the most diverse in North Las Vegas. Two of the three are characteristically natural in layout, taking advantage of the natural undulations, rivets and ravines across the desert heath. The Valley is rated the easiest course, with fewer batteries of bunkers than it's sister, The Desert. Mountain Course opens up a whole new challenge for seasoned players. Tapering fairways, sheer ravine drops and water abound causes even the most skilled to re-assess their approach for six of the nine. The 616-yard, sloping ninth is a great closer, with the lagoon stretching along the entire length of the fairway and a myriad of bunkers protecting the foreground.

For relaxation, Silverstone's 35,000 ft Moroccan styled clubhouse is without doubt one of the best in North Las Vegas. Featuring no less than three dining outlets, Silverstone gladly caters for the early riser with a banquet breakfast spread, including pancakes, Belgian waffles and continental pastries among the choices. Dinner is an elegant affair within the clubhouse Grill – a chance to truly savor the first-class service and exceptional gastronomy from locally trained executive chefs.
