Nestled among the foothills of the Spring Valley Mountains lies a golf course so exclusive, it can only be played by invitation.

Referred to by the Las Vegas Review Journal and Vegas Golfer as the “number one private golf club in Las Vegas”, the Southern Highlands Golf Club is one that only a select few have enjoyed, yet many angle to be a part of. Membership to the PGA class golf course remains strictly limited to a lucky 360, although it is possible to enjoy the panoramic views and undulating parkland as the one-off guest of a member.

Situated at the center of a 2,300 acre purpose-built community, Southern Highlands Golf Club enjoys a prestigious location offset by the splendid majesty of rugged red hills and winding streams.. Within an 8 mile commutable distance North of the Las Vegas Strip, the superior 7,380 yard course offers fine dining amid breathtaking surroundings, within convenient distance of the buzzing entertainment capital.

The world-class desert oasis within which Southern Highlands was originally reserved for a potentially groundbreaking hotel complex, however it was decided (given the caliber of the nearby housing area) that Southern Highlands should remain in keeping with the dynamic natural surroundings – a favorite walking area for nature-lovers and photographers. Father and son architects Robert Trent Jones, Sr. and Robert Trent Jones, Jr. were called upon to devise the layout, owing to the groundbreaking achievement of their previous collaboration at Palmetto Dunes, South Carolina. Southern Highlands would be the second to last collaboration between father and son, owing to the passing of Robert Trent Jones Sr. in 2000. Traditionally designed in the classic links style, you'll find Southern Highlands remains sympathetic to the elevated terrain, encouraging you to up your game.

Continuing it's role as host of the Toyota Men's Collegiate and PGA Tour's Invensys Classic, Southern Highlands is a privilege limited to very few. If you do per chance to receive an invitation, prepare to be challenged by an unrelenting first nine. The first hole is a welcome par 4 at 417 yards, presenting a straight-down-the-line shot - if you get the right approach. Requiring a little forethought due to it's unexpected elevation, hole 3 presents the opportunity for a birdie providing you clear the first shot via the fairway bunkers. Downhill hole 14 is one of the easiest par 4 holes of the course, measuring 448 yards from the back tees and allowing a pretty straight shot down to the green.

Southern Highlands remains an ever prospering magnet for golfers of all handicaps, it's strict membership policies only adding to it's stylish appeal. While it's true you may have to endure the longevity of the waiting list, the opportunity to play upon PGA caliber fairways and strictly maintained landscaping is well worth it. After a challenging day upon the twin nine-hole course, many concur there is little comparable to a late afternoon spent within the exclusive 46,000 square foot Tuscan clubhouse. Spa Southern Highlands offers a wealth of rewarding treatments, including massage and physiotherapy treatments. Or why not skip the one-to-one attention and dive straight into the 25 meter lap pool for instant rejuvenation.
