TPC at the Canyons
Surrounded by the rugged wash of Summerlin's photogenic mountain range, a course of unparalleled beauty and serenity calls to anyone capable of handling a golf club. The rocky ravines and distant Strip views are among just a few of the reasons this red rock retreat endears itself to locals, however TPC At The Canyons also poses an unshakable challenge that very few can resist.
Nestled on a canyon outcrop within the foothills of North Summerlin, TPC promises a spirited game throughout it's 18-hole layout. Devised by the accomplished architects Raymond Floyd and Bobby Weed in 1996, the snaking course presents championship level challenges along the entirety of its 7080-yard stretch. Matched by a deserving par-72 rating, the layout takes advantage of natural elevations and semi-hidden ravines, meandering wildly in places so you never get the chance to recover from the last tee-off.
North West Summerlin lies little more than 15 minutes from the Las Vegas Strip and while conveniently close to the world-class amenities, also offers a smattering of local attractions and lodges for the discerning TPC guest. The Hilton Summerlin is less than five minutes from the club, ideally situated near the Cheyenne Shopping Mall and a wealth of local dining establishments.
Summerlin's ever growing number of golf resorts has had a marginal effect upon some of the older layouts, however TPC remains in a league of it's own – largely due to the exceptional maintenance and manicuring of it's greens. Protected areas of vegetation play host to a variegated array of mammal and plant species, which have become as much a part of the TPC experience as the 10th tee snack shop. The par-3, 196-yard length on hole 2 is one of the most demanding of the first nine and can often make or break the flow of the game. A green, flanked by a canyon wash and located over a sheer ridge cause even the most seasoned player serious headaches! There's little let up on the 365-yard, par-4 rated hole 4, which snakes jauntily into a right dog-leg beside the canyon.
Exceeding expectation has been the primary objective of TPC Golf Club for the past fifteen years. Its an exemplary quality, setting the benchmark for many of the adjacent clubs that have since sprung up nearby. Dining at The Grille is a pleasure bordering on privilege, for the staff seem intent on going out of their way to make your experience. A putting green and chipping area top off the first class clubhouse, adding on a few extra hours of practice opportunity, if you can't bear to drag yourself away!
