"The Cal" is right downtown in Las Vegas. It is the original Boyd Gaming property. After expansions over the years, it now provides 781 rooms and suites. The lobby and guests rooms have a Hawaiian theme, aiming to bring a little "aloha" to downtown Vegas. It is connected by a foot bridge to Main Street Station, a Boyd Casino presented in an old-fashioned, Victorian style.

The Cal's 60,000 square foot casino offers blackjack at all levels and other table games like Pai Gow Poker, Three-card poker and Let it Ride. There are five craps tables, roulette and a thousand slots. Video poker and keno machines are all over. The forty-seat race and sports book has several large TVs and many smaller ones with an information center that provides the latest on sports betting.

The Redwood Bar & Grill cultivates an informal ambiance within the tropical theme of the hotel. It is essentially an upscale steakhouse in the classic Las Vegas mold. The Pasta Pi-rate is known for its seafood, crabs and lobster as much as for pasta dishes. The Cal Club is for people needing a fast snack or craving Asian dishes. The Market Street Café also pro-vides a quick solution to those on the run with a breakfast buffet in the mornings and a salad bar in the afternoon and evening.

The Cal's banquet staff is prepared to set up catering for any special event. The two meet-ing rooms are able to handle up to 300 persons in a reception setting or 240 in classroom or meeting format. The hotel can provide the audio and presentation equipment that may be required.

Dave's Aloha Bar fits the theme of the property. It is next to the Sports Book. Dave's offers special cocktails and some video poker. The Main Street Bar is on the main level of the casino and is a favorite meeting place for players. The Cal's third bar is a friendly environ-ment The San Francisco Pub features scenes from San Francisco as well as the usual complement of keno and video poker. The Redwood Bar is a piano bar, offering music and re-laxation. It is a good place to go if there is a wait for a table at either of the Cal's main restaurants.

The Cal has a 20 by 49 outdoor pool.

The Cal's Bridge Avenue retail provides some shopping in the Island Theme as well as some gift ideas and sweets (ice cream and chocolate). Beyond these stores the visitor finds all of downtown, and the unique "Fremont Street Experience."
