A Hilton flagship hotel, the Las Vegas Hilton stands on Paradise Road, adjacent to the Las Vegas Convention Center and not far off the Las Vegas Strip at the north end, near the Sahara. There is a monorail stop at the Hilton, connecting it to mid- and south-strip hotels, casinos and retail centers. It has 2,833 rooms and 124 suites.
Star Trek: The Experience® is at the Las Vegas Hilton. Trekkies can enjoy fighting BORG and the Klingons in "4D" sound and video presentations. Quark's Bar, Zek's retailing, and Moogie's Trading Post are part of the fun, as well as a display entitled "The History of the Future." Most of this is housed in a 20,000 square foot Space Quest casino area.
The Hilton also has a "Sports Zone" video arcade for those to young to enter casinos. It is in the North Tower and is a supervised video game center.
The 100,000 square foot main casino provides lots of room for table games, a poker room, slots and video poker, and an enormous sports and race book. Instruction in table games is given during the week days in the casino. Tournaments are held frequently. Most of the recognized table games are offered including roulette, craps, blackjack, baccarat, Pai Gow Poker, and Let it Ride. Big Six, a table game combining keno and Wheel of Fortune, is also popular. In the poker room, Texas Hold'em, Omaha and stud occupy the 11 available tables. Ten large plasma TV screens have been installed so poker players can keep up with sporting events at the same time. Lots of the latest in slot machines and video poker games are spread throughout the gaming space and even into some of the bars nearby. Denominations run from a penny to a c-note. Megabucks, Wheel of Fortune, Powerball, Green Stamps and many other familiar names are found on these machines. The "Superbook®" is enormous, perhaps the world's largest at over 30,000 square feet. It is said to accommodate up to 400 sports and racing fans. One projection screen is 15 feet by 20 feet, and there are 28 other large screens around with lots of smaller ones as well. The Superbook also prides itself on having the greatest number and variety of betting propositions for sports fans. There are 8 betting windows in the race book.
TJ's Steakhouse provides both a traditional steakhouse menu and some newer variations, like the calamari steak, roasted chicken or blackened ahi tuna. Lots of different sides and deserts complete the experience. At Benihana the skilled chefs display their mastery of their flamboyant cooking style at the tableside hibachis. The restaurant provides the best that Japanese cuisine has to offer. The Garden Of The Dragon offers tempting dishes from many different regions of China: Mongolia to Canton, Peking to Szechuan. Hacienda Mar-garita provides desirable entrees from all over Mexico including burritos and carnitas, enchiladas tacos, fajitas and steaks. At Casa Nicolà the specialties are Tuscan recipes with Mediterranean savors with a contemporary touch. Menu items include meat and seafood entrees, homemade pasta, and memorable desserts.
The 1,700-seat Theater at the Las Vegas Hilton has a reputation amongst entertainers and audiences for having a marvelous sound system and clear acoustics. Elvis performed here for several years. Now Barry Manilow frequently is the headliner. The Shimmer Cabaret is a smaller venue, home to Menopause, the Musical. This is an acclaimed and hilarious musical comedy about a condition common to all women and experienced vicariously by all men. Menopause, the Musical maintains a permanent company at the Hilton. Performances routinely sell out well in advance, so reserve as soon as possible.
Golf can be booked through the concierge desk for any one of several championship-caliber golf courses around Las Vegas. Hotel staff are knowledgeable and can advise on the best choice, given the guest's criteria.
Start with the steam rooms, saunas and fitness equipment. Add the comforts and amenities, like robes and towels, relaxation rooms and refreshments. Then add the massages: Swedish, therapeutic or hot stone. Aromatic oils are available. Then consider the body treatments, scrubs and baths, the facials and masques. Finally, decide on services of the Regis Salon, which offers everything for hair, nails, feet, and makeup. A visit to the Hilton's spa will be a memorable indulgence.
The Hilton prides itself on its experience and ability to put on meetings and special events in a manner that is seemingly effortless. Within the property are 200,000 square feet of space, including ballrooms, meeting rooms, board rooms and pre-function space, for exhibitions, conventions, banquets and balls.
Tempo is an "ultra-lounge" at the Hilton, where professional dancers entertain, and there's always music and excitement to accompany the drinks. Tempo offers an extensive wine list and bottle service. Eighth Pole Bar is for those who love sports and is located within the "Superbook." At the entrance to two of the Hilton's fine dining restaurants, the Plaza Bar is right for pre-dinner drinks or a nightcap. The Benihana Lounge is by an Asian garden and serves as an introduction to the Benihana dining experience. The SpaceQuest Bar is a 24th century watering hole with a Star Trek feel. It has a full view of the SpaceQuest Casino. The Cabana Bar is open seasonally, providing an outdoor venue under a thatched roof. The Cantina serves up margaritas and other drinks from within La Hacienda Margarita.
The $18 million pool and recreational area includes this large and unusually shaped swimming pool as well as other amenities. Palms encircle the periphery of the area, and there is a deck for sunbathing. A few gazebos and cabanas are available for shade. The spa is nearby. In the summers, the Hilton has a beach party on the pool deck called Cool By The Pool. This event, which is often co-sponsored by companies like Foster's and Bacardi, is one long, musically intense happy hour from 5 to 8. The pool area also is where one has access to the fitness center and the tennis courts. The Cabana Bar and Shop completes the picture.
The property itself offers a small number of shops related to the hotel's activities. Examples include the Manilow Store, the Sci-Fi Zone and some Star Trek shops inside that part of the resort. Guests will be able to purchase gifts, candy, toys and apparel conveniently. The committed shopper will need to grab the monorail and head for some of the really large-scale retail centers that the Las Vegas Strip has to offer.
La Bella Wedding Chapel aims to be the classiest wedding venue in Vegas. The couple may choose to be wed in the indoor chapel or in the wedding gazebo and garden outdoors. Elvis Weddings are also offered, as Elvis performed here for 8 years. It is even possible to have a Star Trek wedding and exchange vows in a mock-up of the Starship Enterprise. Packages are available, including all of the bridal couple's needs, from the wardrobe, to photography, music, cake, champagne, transportation and the reception.
