The theme of the Luxor Hotel and Casino has traditionally revolved around ancient Egypt and the Tomb of King Tutankhamen. More recently, the hotel has tried to diversify away from this theme and concentrate on providing hip Las Vegas-style hospitality and entertainment. The Luxor can always be spotted as the Pyramid Hotel on the Las Vegas Strip, decked out in extravagant décor. Guests can choose among 4,476 deluxe rooms and suites.
The King Tut Museum. The King Tut Museum displays faithful reproductions of the treasures uncovered by one of history's most famous archaeological finds. The visitor can see the renowned guardian statues, the king's sarcophagus, and a variety of pottery, beads and baskets. The King Tut Museum rooms were carefully recreated from the original and the treasures were copied by craftsmen using tools and methods like those of the period. Each artifact is carefully placed in the same location as that specified in the records of the original expedition.
Stairway to the Stars. Luxor claims that its Sky Beam (over 42 billion candlepower) is the world's brightest ray of light and that an astronaut could read by this beam from ten miles up. The Sky Beam may be seen for 250 miles.
IMAX Theater. The Luxor's giant IMAX screen plays three-dimensional excitement for the whole family. Showings may include Dinosaur Giants of Patagonia, Lions 3D: Roar of the Kalahari; Mystery of the Nile; Deep Sea 3D; Fighter Pilot; Draculas's Haunted Castle, and more.
Luxor prides itself on its friendly casino staff. Dealers are trained and encouraged to ex-plain how to play any game. Free cocktail service is available to anyone playing any game. Table games include blackjack, craps, roulette, Pai Gow Poker, Let It Ride, stud poker, three card poker, and Texas Hold'em. The poker room at the Luxor was rated the best of Las Vegas in 2004 by the Review Journal. Luxor Las Vegas also offers free poker lessons. Guests enjoy the spiced Indonesian crab stack and the Fusia Nigiri style sushi. The Pyramid Café is more casual dining, and the Backstage Deli is a kosher-style delicatessen in a New York setting. The Luxor also maintains a large food court for guests on the run. The Pharaoh's Pheast Buffet is a majestic Las Vegas dining outing for couples and families, too. In the fine tradition of Las Vegas buffets, Pharoah's Pheast presents a 30-foot salad bar, pizza station, two carving stations, two omelet stations, and specialties from around the world.
Fantasy At the Luxor, Fantasy reveals seductive secrets & sensual desires. Billed as the ultimate adult revue, created mainly for couples, this traditional, topless Las Vegas show features stunning women, live singing, comedy and avant-garde choreography. AOL's CityGuide rated Fantasy as the "sexiest show in Las Vegas entertainment."
Carrot Top. In a separate theatre, Luxor Las Vegas Hotel and Casino presents Carrot Top (Scott Thompson), an award-winning entertainer, called by critics the "Best Male Stand-Up Comedian and the wackiest red-headed comedian since Lucy!" When Carrot Top is not in residence, the Luxor provides a line up well-known entertainers for its guests.
Guests may enjoy a round of golf at any of five local courses, available through the concierge, including Primm Valley Golf, Bali Hai, Desert Pines Golf Club, Royal Links Golf Club, and the three courses at Stallion Mountain Golf Club.
At Nurture, the Luxor's up-to-date spa and fitness facility, the guest may choose from an array of deluxe massages, revitalizing body treatments, advanced beauty services and also enjoy the steam room, dry sauna, hot whirlpool and exercise and conditioning equipment.
The Egyptian Ballroom is available for meetings and events. The Luxor's convention center is 20,000 square feet of facilities designed for comfort and convenience. The Ra nightclub presents music by top DJs in an elegant setting, boasting that it is the premier nightclub in Las Vegas. RA was voted the "Best Nightclub in Las Vegas for 2004" by the Review-Journal reader's online survey.
Of the Luxor's many lounges, Nefertiti's is very popular because it provides live entertainment and an ancient Egyptian theme. Guests can choose to enjoy the show, dance or do some additional gaming right in the lounge.
