The MGM Grand Hotel and Casino has tried to create a complete entertainment complex under one roof. The 5,000-room property seems like a small city, full of bustling activity. Out front is a 45-foot lion, a tribute to the MGM film studio's legendary roaring-lion symbol. The MGM Grand is a glimpse of the glamour associated with Hollywood and the big screen.
The MGM Lion Habitat is home to eight lions who are descendants of Metro, the MGM lion featured in the original MGM marquee. Also, the CBS Television City Research Center screens many different shows during the day, asking visitors to provide feedback on how well they liked the show.
MGM Grand's Casino has everything expected by a visitor to the Las Vegas Strip. All the table games are in the main casino, and the 22-table, no-smoking poker room offers all the amenities for poker players: 24-hour operation, tableside food and beverage service, tableside massage service, and the popular games, including Texas Hold'em, seven card stud and Omaha. Tournaments are held several times in the week. Throughout the casino and hotel the visitor can find a many different card- and slot-machines with denominations ranging from 1¢ to $500. MGM Grand's race and sports book receives more than 30 channels of simultaneous action from all major international athletic and racing events. The West Wing Bar at the MGM Grand Hotel provides a relaxed and sophisticated atmosphere, with urban lounge music playing in the background. Zuri's is a sophisticated martini bar that tempts the guest with the best in champagnes, beers and infused vodkas. Centrifuge is designed for those who want to groove to progressive beats, bask in an ultra-modern metropolitan vibe, savor signature cocktails and take in choreographed and freestyle dance performances.
The Crazy Horse Paris Show is based on the nude show from the Paris original, but adds a twist to the French classic by introducing innovative lighting schemes and color projections to create a new art form in the Las Vegas show tradition.
KA - Cirque de Soleil, a show that delivers all the acrobatics, color and grace of the other programs, but with a plot. The idea comes from an ancient Egyptian belief that everyone had a spiritual twin in the world and that their union could create enormous energy, either for good or ill. KA deals with twins, raised apart, who must reconnect in order to achieve the purpose life holds for each of them. The leitmotif of binary acts and images recurs over and over throughout the show.
The smaller Hollywood Theatre seats 740 and is the venue for many famous entertainers. The design is such that there is not a bad seat in the house. Some of the headline performers who have entertained in the Hollywood Theater are Howie Mandel, David Copperfield and Tom Jones.
The MGM Grand Garden Arena is hosts large concerts, sporting events (including boxing, of course), award shows and other special events. The Arena seats as many as 16,800 people with a clear view and great sound reproduction for every seat. This venue has hosted championship boxing matches and many concerts, including presentations by Jimmy Buffett, Barbara Streisand, Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney, U2, Elton John, the Rolling Stones and Madonna.
The MGM Grand Spa can set up the visitor in any one of 20 private suites and treatment rooms. The decor is purposefully designed in oriental themes, using a lot of stone, wood and understated color. The Spa offers the usual services of massage, facials and body treatments as well as stress relief and fitness, manicures and pedicures, and skin care. The up-to-date fitness center provides weights and cardiovascular equipment. Amenities for both genders include the steam room, whirlpool bath and sauna. A full service unisex styling salon is also available.
The MGM Grand boasts what may be the country's largest conference center so far, with more than 500,000 square feet of meeting space. An event of almost any size can be accommodated, with the help of an award-winning staff of 21 Certified Meeting Planners. There are ballrooms/exhibit halls of 62,000 square feet, 50,000-square-feet and 5,000 square feet. Over 30 meeting/breakout session rooms are available and two well-furnished board rooms. The exhibit lobby and registration space is also around 50,000 square feet. This operation is also supported by a Business Center, which also serves all guests with email and internet access, faxes, copying, equipment rentals, office supplies, shipping and deliveries and a notary public.
MGM Grand boasts the hottest Las Vegas night clubs. Studio 54 Las Vegas is a modern interpretation of the original, featuring the latest technology in video, lighting and sound. This club offers the latest in popular dance music and live dancers to go with it. Other performers execute acrobatic moves above the crowd. The DJ mixes retro, progressive and popular hits. In the background, live dancers, wall walkers, bungee jumpers and acrobats perform.

The network of MGM Grand's swimming pools make up one of the world's largest water complexes, with five different pools connected by a 1000 feet of river. There are three built-in whirlpool baths. The facility is designed as a tropical oasis -- a sunbather's paradise. The Grand Pool Complex is surrounded by overpass walkways, water features like fountains and cascades, and lush foliage.
Guests have their choice of Studio Walk (a 115,000-square-foot shopping promenade), and Star Lane Shops (a variety of shops and an arcade).
The MGM Grand's wedding coordinator will take care of all the details of a wedding, from flowers and music to the cake and photographs. Choose from two different wedding chapels. The wedding party is invited to take advantage of the spa and beauty salon facilities. And of course, the reception can be catered in large meeting rooms, in a restaurant, or in one of the suites.
