Have you ever wondered how the world might appear from the inside out? From within the world's only purpose-built human-friendly soap bubble, you can get a pretty good idea. This curious installation is just one of the many hands-on experiences installed within the Lied Discovery Children's Museum – a place where the objective might be educational development, but the real attraction is unparalleled fun; transforming “make-believe” into reality and capturing the imaginations of children with surreal interactive exhibits, guaranteed to leave a lasting impression.

Located off-Strip at the far North of Las Vegas Boulevard, Lied Discovery Children's Museum is far enough away to escape the bustle of the boomtown, but close enough to prove an easily accessible day out for the whole family. Housed within an ultra-modern, light and airy space encompassing over 23,000 square feet, Lied is without doubt one of Las Vegas' biggest indoor adventure playgrounds and the fun begins just as soon as you enter via the huge ice-cream cone dome!

For toddlers, Lied Discovery is awash with colorful characters and mini adventures. With an entire first floor dedicated to fun for the under-5's, there's no shortage of places to explore. “Desert Discovery” fascinates with its fantasy mini-mountain mock-up, heaps of sand-pits and cute mine station designed to propel buckets across a zip-wire, to the mountain on the other side. Squeals of delight emanate from “Toddler Tower”, a bright Jenga block of play cubicles filled with soft ball baths, slides and interconnecting tunnels. Rows of dress-up stations and activity corners grab attention nearby, including a replica bank and shop where kids can adopt the roles of bankers and shopkeepers, selling fake tins of food and groceries for real paper money.

Upstairs brings a little maturity to the choice of adventures, with exhibits designed to grab the interest of kids aged 5-15. Curious, yet heaps of fun, the “What If You Couldn't” corner challenges able-bodied youngsters to put themselves in the shoes of the less physically able, with a basketball forecourt and manual wheelchairs from which to shoot hoops. Families can't fail to see the funny side of a hurricane within the “Storm Booth”, as gusts of over 70 mph force them to cling to one another for dear life – often ending up in a heap as gales get the better of them. Multimedia attractions abound on floor two, including a “green screen” exhibit that demonstrates how virtual reality movies are made. Kids can even star in their own movie mock-up, with several story-lines to choose from. K-KID Radio brings out the budding presenter in the family, encouraging youngsters to host their own show and introduce eager vocalists to the stage for a spot of karaoke. Possibly the most riveting (and annoying) exhibit for parents is the instrument wall, an interactive hand sensor experience that plays the notes from over 100 unique musical instruments – one of the most popular exhibits on the level.

With so much to see and do under one roof, don't be surprised if you lose all sense of time while visiting Lied. An ever changing attraction of educational exhibits and moral experiences, Lied Discovery Children's Museum appeals extends its appeal to both the young, and young at heart!
