Caramel
Ever heard of the “Oreo Shake Martini”? A delectable combination of dark Dutch chocolate, strong Irish Cream liqueur, a dash of vodka, lashings of double cream and a crunchy topping of Oreo Cookies form the basis of this, the signature swanky cocktail that epitomizes everything the Bellagio's Caramel Club is about. It's a perfectly harmonious balance of rich flavors and color contrast, served up in a stylish glass with a sprinkled garnish – much like Caramel's décor, which bridges classy and modernism without being too in your face!
Situated right next door to the Bellagio Hotel's vintage casino, Caramel distinguishes itself from other “lounge clubs” in Vegas since it doesn't do VIP sections, or cater to a particular class of clientele. That being said, Caramel more than matches the sophistication of any of it's rivals with sleek polished wood floors, caramel furnishings and sharp lines thanks to tasteful wall paneling. At just over 1,600 square feet, Caramel is no contender among the new breed of über-clubs such as Lavo and Tao, but what it lacks in size, it certainly makes up for in character and entertainment.
Launched back in 2007 by the Dubai-based Light Group, Caramel sought to bridge the gap between hip Bellagio bar “The Bank” and larger rival clubs. Unpretentious, yet ultra-sophisticated, the lounge-bar emulates the vintage feel of Vegas, coupled with experimental cocktails and a thoroughly modern outlook. Light fare is served during early evening, accompanied by an elegant bottle service with complimentary fruit and chocolate. Attention to detail is yet another aspect of Caramel's persona, that sets it apart from it's contemporaries.
With an extremely chilled early evening vibe, its little wonder the Caramel Club has become an attractive pre-club hangout for many an A-lister and Hollywood celebrity. Quincy Jones famously launched the Casa Dragones Tequila here back in 2009, accompanied by MTV founder Robert Pittman. Loretta Divine, Michael Kors, Benicio Del Torres and the Hilton sisters are just a few of the first class entities whom have been enticed by Caramel's charms, although it seems new famous faces are reported on an almost daily basis by the gossip columns. When it comes to people watching/ spotting in Las Vegas, Caramel Club ranks highly among the top ten locations!
Like it's sister clubs at the Bellagio, Caramel is committed to serving up an enticing evening's entertainment. Her resident DJ's Supra and Dilemma play an alternating schedule on Friday and Saturday nights, when the bar takes on the up-beat vibe of a hip-hop club. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are a little more relaxed with Guy Williams and David Christian serving up a delectable array of mixed hits, ranging from Motown to funky house.
Bridging the gap between pre-club meeting spot and embarkation point, Caramel presents one of the few stylish lounge bars in Vegas that doesn't command a hefty price tag. There's no cover or service charges to speak of, and drinks remain within a healthy price range. Even if you don't stay for the post-midnight fun, Caramel is definitely one to tick off as a 'been to' on your Vegas checklist!
