Cathouse
Plush purple velvet, golden lighting and a healthy dose of beautiful women combine within the Cathouse – Las Vegas' answer to a 19th Century European bordello, and a favorite haunt of celebrity musicians. The iconic Luxor Hotel night venue is a far cry from the prim and proper sophistication currently being attempted along the Strip, offering a luxuriant, dimly lit enclave away from the bright lights and thronging casinos. Embracing provocative theater, decadent dining and the ambiance of a classic Vegas strip lounge, Cathouse Loungerie prides itself on being a multi-venue attraction that seamlessly segues day and night-time entertainment.
Launched in December 2007, the Cathouse Loungerie within the indulgent Luxor Hotel became an instant hit among locals, who welcomed it's provocative and daring attempt at burlesque club revival. Kitted out in dark chocolates, fiery reds and polished wooden paneling, Cathouse was every inch the erotic emulate of a 19th Century French den of iniquity. Great blue neon domes hang suspended from the ceiling, bathing circular tables in a flattering ambient glow, while the blue theme is continued behind the stool flanked oak bar. Tasteful impressionist nudes of both monstrous and minute size grace every available area of wall-space, and there are even mirrors which come to life after dark (featuring a burlesque beauty preparing for her show.) Ironically, many of the sculptures and wall hangings happen to be original art pieces rescued from former bodellos across the pond!
Cathouse proved an instant hit among the U.S glitterati - celebrity chef Kim Simon being one of the endorsing names that buoyed the Cathouse reputation for fine food. Kim is well known for his upscale authentic Korean creations, having formerly been the head of “Woo Lae Oak” at both the New York and Beverly Hills premises. Decadent dining defines many a Las Vegas lounge club, however it's celebrity guests are drawn to far more than American-Asian fusion. Both Kelly and Jack Osbourne are regular visitors, drawn by the raucous rock nights and model caliber madams whom grace the stage. Usher and Damien Brody are known to frequent the cocktail lounge where barely-there bikini clad “Coquettes” provide hours of risqué entertainment and personal bottle service, while Dita Von Teese and Holly Madison are known to make regular impromptu appearances.
Divided into two separate but adjoining rooms, the party at Cathouse is what you make of it. The “ultra-lounge” as locals refer to it provides an opportune space for private parties, mingling and general chill-out, while the adjacent club-area is favored for high-octane partying and DJ duels. Larry Lynx and DJ Ikon help the weekend get off to a pumping start, alternating sets of rock, house and hip-hop. Resident V-Bar maestro DJ Koko, along with L.A underground spinner DJ Steel are also regular additions to the bill.
Whether it's purely a night of voyeurism for you and the lads, or an up-tempo dance-athon among the A-list, Cathouse aims to serve it up in larger than life theatrical fashion. Just don't forget to nab your been there, done that photo with a Cathouse Coquette before you leave, or you'll never live it down!
