Eve
Las Vegas has always born more of a rep for partying than as a booming shopping capital, however the opening of City Center's Crystals retail complex in December 2009 heralded a new cache of high end boutiques, within a building that became an architectural marvel. Devised by the experimental architect David Rockwell, in partnership with Studio Daniel Libeskind, Crystals was unveiled alongside the soaring Aria Hotel Resort - with which it is now twinned. The Crystals may have revived the Las Vegan love affair with designer brands such as Ralph Lauren and Gucci, however it's reputation as an entertainment mega-plex precedes it. Home to a string of signature restaurants (including Wolfgang Puck and Eva Longoria Parker's “Beso”) the center has become a popular stop-off for pre-club dining, and has since added to it's slew of attractions with the opening of Haze and Eve nightclubs.
As you may rightly have guessed, Eve is the extension of celebrity actress Eva Longoria Parker's prestigious restaurant brand; a first in terms of her expansion into Vegas entertainment. Carrying over the sharpness of Crystals 21st Century architecture into an 8,000 square foot space, the colossal night venue has received as much press attention for it's interior, as it has for the celebrity association. Striking mirrored windows provide unparalleled views across the 21st Century park of Crystals, as well as vistas across to the Aria dreamscape next door. In a nod to the Vegas trend of doing one bigger and better than the last, Eve is also kitted out with a 360 degree set-up of video screens and laser systems high aloft the dance-floor, beaming imagery of revelers and holographic light shows the whole night long!
With all the trappings of a penthouse club, Eve is surprisingly intimate once you get past the main entrance. Dressed in dark plaid wallpapers punctuated by leather, the overall effect would suggest it's trying to be a rock club. The predominantly black theme is continued throughout with angular leather sofas and charcoal wood tables, topped off by a slate-brick island bar at it's heart. Almost as a hindsight realization to how black the venue seems, a giant Gothic chandelier sets off the contrast of the bar, bathing everything in a soft neon blue light. Apart from a few strategically placed pipe-lights around the club, this is by far the brightest area in the whole place – ideal for the cocktail shows put on by bar staff!
Slipping decorously into the upscale niche, Eve has become known for it's many surprise DJ guests, and a sprinkling of A-list VIPs. Winner of Beatport 2011 Manuel De La Mare has graced the decks at Eve on several consecutive occasions, most recently followed by popular mash-up spinner DJ Josh Abrams. Having previously held residences at PURE and Spundae, Abrams knows how to feed hits that fatten the dance-floor! Whether you're a fan of “Desperate Housewives” or simply seeking out somewhere stylish to take your pals, Eve meshes celebrities and sophistication, with an infectious party atmosphere guaranteed until the small hours!
