Gold Diggers
What is Vegas without a little creative competion? With a recent $100 million expansion project confirmed for it's futuristic face-lift, the Golden Nugget Hotel Resort is the latest among the well-established resorts vying for premier status in Sin City. It's revived entertainment schedule boasts the talents of improv-impressionist Gordie Brown, coupled with the highly revered “Country Superstars Tribute” that formerly held it's own at Fremont Street. The latest innovative improvements include the refurbished Nugget Showroom that once played host to superstar musicians Tom Jones and Frank Sinatra; a swanky new pool experience and the jewel in the crown of the Nugget – the Gold Diggers Nightclub!
Rare is a club in Las Vegas that combines spectacular vistas, with innovative libations and a night-time experience that influences even the maturer crowd to don their dancing shoes. Bringing decadence and debauchery in equal measure downtown quarter of Sin City, the Golden Nugget management are proving that no amount of change in economic instability or distance from the heart of the Strip has to be detrimental to business. From the 180-degree second floor balcony of Gold Diggers, the Fremont Street Experience adds credence to this, since the entire area transforms into a bustling holidaymaker's mecca by night. The majority used to come for the sell-out shows, however Gold Diggers is now drawing the younger generation with an equal blend of bouncing beats and a gamut of celebrity faces.
Decked out in the erotic black and red hues synonymous of a Vegas strip club, the interior of Gold Diggers takes on a stylishness that could easily compete with the likes of TAO or Gallery. Curious wooden framework creates abstract squares upon the hot red canvasses of it's walls, while the sultry ambiance is further enhanced by strategic mood lighting throughout. It might be simple but the overall effect is chic and minimalist – ideal when the real visions come in the form of contortionist bar dancers decorated with hot red bikinis and little else.
Despite once having a confirmed reputation as a hang-out for the middle-aged masses, the fortunes of Gold Diggers over the past year have changed dramatically. Industrial nights draw in a completely new class of DJ's, including the TAO club favorite DJ Goodvybe. Friday and Saturday nights have been transformed from 80's vintage, to an eclectic evening of rhythms courtesy of upscale entertainer DJ Poun, whom has worked with urban superstar Just Blaze, as well as at Jay-Z's premier 40/40 Club in New York. Should the pace of the party get too much, the resident VJ provides alternative entertainment in the form of 80's music video montages within the terrace lounge - although we reckon you'll be more taken by the views.
Casually classy without the try-hard stiffness of many Strip nightclubs, Gold Diggers presents a club that stays very much true to it's Vegas roots. Age is no barrier when it comes to partying, nor is a suggestive t-shirt!
