Mount Pinatubo is a volcano in the Philippines. Thus, it makes sense that Pinatubo Poker is a variation of Manila Poker, and like Manila, it is very popular in Australian card rooms.

Manila Poker is Texas Hold’Em played with a stripped deck and a couple of other rule changes, including elimination of the flop. This creates five betting rounds. In Pinatubo, one of these is eliminated by revealing the second and third board cards at the same time. Then the second round of betting takes place. The last two rounds are for the turn and river, just as in Texas Hold’Em.

Like Manila, Pinatubo Poker can also be played with three hole cards, with the requirement that two of them, and only two, be played in the final hand arrangement.
