Opened in 2009, the Pinball Hall of Fame was recognized for a number of world record achievements, including largest pinball museum in the world. With a 100-strong collection donated by longtime enthusiast Tim Arnold, it also became the largest single-location collection of pinball arcade machines, dating from the 1950's to present day. Tim Arnold is best known for his iconic arcades in Michigan, opened during the 70's when arcade games were very much de rigeur among the younger generation. Arnold enlisted the entrepreneurial expertise of Salvation Army Leader Midge Arthur back in 1990, intent on setting up a facility that would preserve the history of arcade gaming for all to enjoy. In 1991, the Pinball Hall of Fame was born.

Today, the Pinball Hall of Fame boasts over 150 arcade games, arranged across an exhibition space of 10,000 square feet. All have been restored to their former glory, meaning they're not only exhibits, but interactive experiences too. Games run the gamut of historical examples, with early 50's Electro-Mechanical machines whereby you had to manually feed the ball into the machine, to Solid State games (from 1977) that were almost entirely computerized. One thing that hasn't changed is the price of play. Most machines built before 1979 cost little more than 25 cents per play, while computerized models still accept the standard 50 cents. Its not a bad price to pay to enjoy old-time video arcade favorites like PacMan, with all proceeds reserved for the future development of the not-for-profit organization!
