Cafe Martorano
This Italian-American restaurant in the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino is the creation of Steve Martorano, a chef who specializes in simple, traditional Italian food as it was prepared in his native Philadelphia. The ambiance of the restaurant, however, is very urbane. No checkered table cloths here. The chef and the restaurant have become famous, in part because of the "Martorano meatball," a main feature of the menu. Other dishes include inventive combinations of prosciutto, mozzarella and rice into a familiar Sicilian dish, and seafood prepared according to several different recipes. Tasting plates are available for those looking to try out several items at once. Later in the evening the chef-owner sometimes displays his skills as a DJ out front, urging guests to dance to R&B and hip-hop.
