Canal Street
A blend of a New Orleans steakhouse (hence the name) and a swanky French fine-dining establishment, Canal Street offers steaks and prime rib, as well as traditional New Orleans dishes. The fireplace and the high, crushed velvet booths create an air of luxury and intimacy. You might start with cognac-lobster bisque, or oysters in apple vinaigrette. Shrimp, sea bass and breast of chicken with wild mushrooms and caramelized onions are favorite alternatives to the rib-eye steak, served blackened and the conventional cuts. Bananas Foster, a favorite New Orleans desert, should be high on you list of choices for desert.
