Restaurant Guy Savoy
Guy Savoy was one of France’s storied chefs, having been awarded three stars by the Guide Michelin and the Legion d’Honneur from the French government. His Las Vegas restaurant is in Caesars Palace, and Restaurant Guy Savoy has also received many awards and honors by food critics and gourmets in the United States. The Las Vegas version is much like the five other Guy Savoy restaurants – all of them in France. About 90% of the menu is the same. General Manager Franck Savoy is the son of the famous chef and responsible for maintaining the Las Vegas venue in the quality of the founder’s vision. The staff of Restaurant Guy Savoy has been trained to anticipate the guest’s every need.
Restaurant Guy Savoy is in the Spa Tower of Caesars Palace, removed from the noise of the casino. Two semi-private rooms and one private dining room are available. The designer of the restaurant (Jean-Michel Wilmotte, architect of parts of the new Louvre) set out to create a simple but elegant space. The restaurant has a vaulted, cathedral ceiling with dark paneling around the periphery. The Guy Savoy aesthetic, taken from Zen, is that frills and flounces get in the way of the appreciation of true beauty and taste.
First-time guests might want to try the ten-course “Menu Prestige,” the restaurant’s top-of-the-line dinner. It includes elements like the Artichoke and Black Truffle Soup and an appetizer called “Colors of Caviar,” followed by a carefully seasoned Sea Bass. Another menu is available that includes marinated tuna, beef tenderloin or red snapper. Occasionally the restaurant also offers a fixed price menu specializing in white truffles and wild game dishes. A full a la carte menu is also offered, which changes frequently. One well-known dish is the Brittany blue lobster with carrots and orange. Another classic Savoy dish is the roast veal chop with truffle potato purée. All the breads at Restaurant Guy Savoy are fresh baked and sensational. Likewise, dinner guests praise the cheese cart with more than twenty of the best cheese France can offer. The dessert includes a couple of sweet items like the chocolate fondant. But in general, the pastry selections and deserts are designed to be fruity and refreshing rather than heavy. Almost 2,000 wine labels, mostly French, are available though the sommelier. In short, Restaurant Guy Savoy focuses on simplicity, excellent ingredients and delicate tastes, set in a modern ambiance with exceptional views and attentive service. That is what puts Restaurant Guy Savoy at the tope of many diners' lists.
