Nobhill Tavern
Michael Mina has teamed up with Sven Mede to provide an elegant restaurant in the San Francisco tradition at the MGM Grand. Formerly just “Nobhill,” it is now “Nobhill Tavern.” The dining room has a rich wood decor. Six very private, glass-enclosed booths are near the bar, and can be requested when making a reservation. The extensive wine cellar is also encased in glass walls. Try the fixed price menu at $75. which offers three courses, including desert. Foie gras is a popular choice for appetizer, with three different ways to enjoy it. In addition, a classic cheese fondue or a sample platter of hors d'oeuvres of scallops, beef tempura and Dungeness crab can be the start for a memorable meal. Shellfish is a specialty, so look for many ways to enjoy lobster, shrimp, crab, oysters, scallops and mussels. The sea bass main course is served warm with melon and is a light, summer dish. Deserts are also lavish and creative in the Mina tradition, like the pistachio streusel with berries and the chocolate soufflé.
