Wolfgang Puck joins with John LaGrone to bring San Francisco to Venice in the form of Postrio, a café and fine dining restaurant in St. Mark’s Square, in the center of the Grand Canal Shoppes at the Venetian. The stylish interior of Postrio is modern and minimalist, using subdued earth tones on the surfaces and furnishings. The chef’s table is at the dining room's center, under an arched opening. The vaulted dining area is lit from a large, spherical chandelier as well as other high-tech lighting effects. Faux fireplaces around the periphery add to the atmosphere. Color is provided by large and vibrant photos of vitamin C crystals, magnified 100k times. The bar area near the entrance is also modern, with a number of booths inset into tile openings, creating a lounge feeling. Two private dining rooms are available in addition to service in the main dining room and the bar area. Postrio has a complete dinner menu and also a "café menu." Both offer American culinary creations with Asian accents and inspirations from the Mediterranean. The dishes do vary with the seasons, but some are always there, like the pork wienerschnitzel that Wolfgang Puck has become known for. From the sea, options include salmon, sea bass, yellowfin tuna and scallops. A prime tenderloin of beef is usually offered on the dinner menu, as well as quail and lamb. Deserts, also considered a Wolfgang Puck specialty, include light puff pastries with different berries and cream, chocolate in a couple of forms, and cheesecake, of course.
