rumjungle
rumjungle describes itself as a Brazilian-Caribbean-Cuban restaurant. It is also a bar and a nightclub. Entry is had by passing a waterfall and a large wall of flame. The idea is to create an exotic, "jungle" atmosphere in which guests can drink, dine and dance. The menu features grilled steak and other meats, rum-marinated and spicy chicken, mahi-mahi in a passion fruit and pineapple marinade, and a curry-coconut-glazed lamb brochette said to hail from Martinique. Boasting the largest rum bar in the world at 85 feet long and 19 feet high, rumjungle attracts a hip crowd of locals and tourists-in-the-know. Try the crispy coconut shrimp with your favorite rum drink. The "rodizio" style of cooking, which comes from the south of Brazil, involves receiving a rotation of meats cooked over an open barbecue and served directly from the spit (or sword) by the waiters. The variety is great enough to please anyone, and it's "all you can eat" for a set price. Lots of traditional side dishes come with the meal, like greens and potatoes and even bananas and manioc. A la carte choices are available for those not up to an evening of "rodizio" eating. They include dishes like the garlic-lime chicken with salsa. Plenty of delicious and inventive deserts top off the meal, many with fruit and rum sauces, in keeping with the restaurant’s theme. At 11:00 the place turns into a hip nightclub scene.
