Show in the Sky at the Rio
Every night from 7 pm, the heavily curtained stage of the Rio Hotel and Casino is transformed into a Britney Spears-esque set of lithe backing dancers and disco lights, as the crew of “Show In The Sky” take to the stage for Vegas' newest all-singing, all-dancing freebie spectacle. Back in 2008, the Rio Hotel was shooting up the Las Vegas popularity charts for the Mardi Gras inspired stage show of the same name. Doctored with a subtle makeover, brand new theme and a slew of popular hits that include the Pussycat Dolls' “Buttons” and Beyonce's “Naughty Girl”, the “Show In The Sky” is fast reclaiming its reputation as one of the best free attractions in Las Vegas.
Blessed with the bodies of burlesque performers and the voices of chart-topping stars, the “Show In The Sky” troupe are a 20-strong troupe of outstanding performers, guaranteed to get your night off to a happening start. Having worked with the likes of Madonna and Lenny Kravitz, the Wilson Brothers choreography team are no strangers to producing hit shows for pop loving crowds. The “Show In The Sky” set is often likened to a live music video, such is the caliber of talent among the cast. Combining the sultriness of burlesque with the fast-paced street style of R 'n' B, the show weaves endless musical and dance styles into the high octane, hour long set.
Entry to the “Show In The Sky” is free if you wish to merely sit/ stand and observe, however if you're in Vegas on vacation, we highly recommend parting with the paltry $12.95 per person for a “Show In The Sky” Float Experience. Suspended from the ceiling some twenty feet above the ground floor, the Float Experience transports riders around a sky-track, shaped around the stage. Not only is it an optimal vantage point for the rip-roaring show, it's a chance to experience the talent of the singers and dancers mere feet from your seat. Dancing beauties perform an extension of the stage routines, hopping between floats throughout the up-tempo numbers. If that's not reason to climb aboard, the stage view certainly is!
