Bite
There are few shows in Vegas that are edgier, more provocative, or more creative than Bite - a darkly sensual vampire production.
This show has been performed at the Stratosphere for five years (for anyone who’s 18 or older) and has endured the test of time owing to the enduring cultural fascination with the vampire myth. Given the popularity of this spectacular Vegas-style treatment of the classic vampire tale, Bite will surely be around for quite a awhile.
Vampires, or course, aren’t just known for being cold blooded killers, rather the greatest vampire tales are always rife with sexual tension, allegories for sexual longing, pursuit, and conquest. Bite takes the underlying sexuality of vampire mythology and makes it the centerpiece of the show, Vegas-style.
The stage is dark, like a fog-filled graveyard horror scene. Spotlights flash throughout the stage, flames erupt and screams fill the room.
Bite has taken the vampire motif and incorporated some of the most amazing dance performances and aerial scenes Vegas has to offer and combined them with beautiful singing and a heavy metal musical score.
The story begins with an expression of desire for true love. This normally sweet motivation becomes far more ominous because it is made by the Lord Vampire - and the Lord Vampire is looking directly in the audience for his soul mate. Even his Erotic Rock Angels cannot distract him from finding true love.
There’s plenty audience interaction, with multiple audience members unexpectedly being brought on stage. (There are also cast members dispersed in the audience on which Lord Vampire can perform acts that would be inappropriate on real audience members, not to worry).
The Lord Vampire will sometimes appear behind an audience member without them even being aware. Lord Vampire, performer Antonio Restivo, says that he has startled some audience members so much that they have hit him or run out of the theater.
He is the perfect Lord Vampire. In fact, he was so perfect for the part that when he originally stopped by to view the show as a spectator, audience members asked him if he was a part of the show.
Antonio has a background in fire-eating and he definitely brings this exotic skill set to the show as he spins his demonic trident at rapid speeds. He’s even mastered the piano.
Antonio has become so immersed in his role that he’s customized his entire house to look like a horror show, complete with a customized bat-shaped bed, candles, gothic statues and a coffin, allowing him to remain continually in the state of mind of Lord Vampire.
This story is great for those who are crazy about vampires, but beware of the nudity if that’s not your thing. The Erotic Rock Angels that fill the stage dance topless, moving their bodies in ways that seem, well, otherworldly. There are also martial arts, contortions, and gymnastics thrown into the mix giving you a gothic circus of the underworld.
Classic metal from the likes of Ozzy Osbourne, AC/DC, Def Leppard, Twisted Sister, and Guns N' Roses blast from the loud speakers.
With great music, amazing visuals and an intriguing storyline, this show can appeal to a broad range of viewers. Maybe you’ll love the story, or maybe you’ll just love the spectacular performances.
As the music fills the venue, dancers entertain, and aerialists fly through the air, the Lord Vampire seeks out his soul mate. Will that soul mate be you?
