Hypnotiq Starring Michael Johns and Terry Stokes
Think you have what it takes to resist the 'Bad Boys of Hypnosis'? Best known for their mind-boggling antics at the Tropicana fronting “Hypnosis Unleashed”, mind-bending duo Michael Johns and Terry Stokes Johns return with yet another adults-only program of risqué, outrageous entertainment at Harmon Theater, Planet Hollywood Resort. The fast-paced, tongue-in-cheek masterpiece promises the same unkempt, dark comedy that won “Hypnosis Unleashed” international press coverage in 2010, followed by a coveted Merlin Award. Michael Johns even went so far as to make it onto the Vegas Magazine List in November 2011 (an honor he attributes as much to his partner's philanthropy work, as he does to his own. Can we really expect any more from Vegas' longest serving comedy double act? Hypnotiq's recent victims are inclined to think so!
Billed as Neon City's “funniest adult show”, Hypnotiq combines bawdy improv comedy with subconscious persuasion, for an interactive night of raucous laughter and downright embarrassment. Strangely, Hypnotiq does without a big, bold opener during the intro of the show. Instead, Stokes invites the audience to test the power of their “hypnotizability” by holding out their hands and creating a 'v' with both forefingers – but, they must not touch. You're inclined to believe you're being taken for a ride as Terry then instructs each person to squint through the gap between their fingers. “See, they touch” he deadpans, his face as solemn as if he were 'under' himself. It's these amuse-bouche moments that keep the audience guessing throughout Hypnotiq - preludes to the larger belly-achers that leave even him red-faced!
Part of the Sin City showbiz-scape for as long as anyone cares to remember, Michael Johns and Terry Stokes are sensationally different in every way imaginable. A philanthropist, hypnotherapist and acting mentor, Stokes racked up over 30 years experience in his field even before entering the spotlight. Michael Johns on the other hand has always known where he was headed. Since the age of 11, the self-confessed 'class clown' harbored a desire to engage audiences with his unique “hillbilly” brand of comedy. Johns found his feet with hypnosis comedy following an awkward pants round the ankles moment as a hypnosis volunteer. Now, he's having the last laugh!
To label Hypnotiq as brash would be insulting. It's so much more than that! Uncensored and unpredictable, Hypnotiq makes Marc Savard's “Comedy Hypnosis” seem like a walk in the park compared to the ribbing you might endure here. Strictly for the over-21's, Hypnotiq will have you baring your backside for shots, climaxing when someone coughs and barking chihuahua style to Old MacDonald. Even non-believers find themselves drawn under the Hypnotiq spell! Prepare to have your drinks swiped and your rear bared for a night of sadistic hypnosis comedy no-one in their right mind can refuse – apparently!
