Men of X
The red-blooded males of Las Vegas have long been served a hearty dose of scantily clad, lithe women, performing exotic routines for their pleasure. “X Burlesque”, is one such glamorous, yet sultry revue devised in part by producer Angela Stabile - a showbiz producer with over nineteen years in the business, and a string of successful productions under her belt. Combining the classic tease choreography of 20's burlesque, with a host of modern dance techniques; “X Burlesque” manages to shrug off the tired 'strip-show' stereotype, and deliver a complete visual (and sometimes interactive) experience.
Hot on the heels of “X Burlesque”, came one for the ladies - “Men of X”; a revue conceived with a sophisticated party theme, yet to be equally as visually thrilling, as it's female-dominated counterpart. Stabile Productions was also responsible for formulating the “Men of X” production, specifically for Hooter's Night Owl Showroom, which also hosts the flamboyant Strip success “Purple Reign – The Ultimate Prince Tribute Show”. Interestingly, “Men of X” recently moved to the adjacent Dixie's Dam Bar, as it was thought the venue more befitting of the party theme – and significantly more intimate.
Most first-timers to a Stabile production arrive without high expectation. After all, the “X” revue is really just a high-class strip-tease production, featuring a handpicked cast of Adonis-like bodies, who are blessed with the ability to dance. That's the theory. In reality, “Men of X” exceeds expectation because the handpicked 'cast' are actually the result of an extensive national search for the best 'bods' in the business.
Swivel-hipped “J. Boogie” (whom also happens to be the host) has enjoyed unprecedented levels of success since his winning of ABC's “Dance Machine”, and went on to join the N.Y.C cast of “Fame” for several years. Baby-faced “Steve” (a former Chippendale by trade) joined the cast in 2008, and continues to be a firm favorite with the ladies. It could have something to do with his Korean-Italian looks, but is more likely influenced by his role as the 'solo' dancer for one lucky lady every evening. Green-eyed, and super-honed; “Richard” has endeared himself to the ladies, because of his clear love for performing up-close and personal. The fact he is a personal trainer by day, may also explain his hold over the ladies. With such a diverse cast, it's inevitable the show features a variety of talent (and not just the physical kind.) Break-dancing, Michael Jackson's “Moonwalk” and Hip-Hop freestyle are just some of the surprising twists, to a show stereotyped as a tantalizing visual experience.
When it comes to bridging the diverse tastes of their female audiences, the “Men of X” boys have pretty much every base covered. Characters ranging from firemen and military personnel, to leather-clad bikers and the aptly named “Dr. Love” all feature prominently, as do some spectacularly teasing scenes (one involving a minuscule towel, and on-stage shower.) The booming rhythms of R 'n' B, classic rock and Hip-Hop are mixed down to professional standard (so much so, one can barely notice the transition), and there is never a false step as the boys shake their rippling bodies in time to the beats. The delivery is as faultless, as the energy and enthusiasm accompanying it. You'd be hard pushed to find any lack of co-ordination during the group numbers, since it is rumored the lads rehearse vigorously, at least 5 times a week!
Compared to many of the tease revues currently featured along the Strip, “Men of X” really comes into it's own with a distinct brand of sophistication, coupled with a regularly evolving showcase. Stabile Productions are also one of the older, well-established entertainment groups, headed up by a husband and wife team with a combined thirty years in the business. Not only does the show cater for audiences of mixed age groups; it keeps ahead of the competition with regular updating, to both the music, and the performance itinerary. That, and the fact the cast are undoubtedly some of the most beautiful men in Vegas, make for a truly memorable experience.
