Raack and Roll
Dogged by rumors of foreclosure and bankruptcy since 2009, Hooter's Hotel and Casino appeared to be on it's last legs in 2011, until the announcement of a brand new topless revue, aptly named “Raack and Roll”. Planned by the tour de force creative duo Angela and Matt Sabile, Raack and Roll bears all the distinctive hallmarks of a high-octane strip revue, packaged in much the same way as the Flamingo's “X Burlesque”. Contrary to the innocuous billboards emblazoned with a lone, reticent dancer, Raack and Roll is perhaps one of the most risqué revues you'll find in Vegas. Cheeky and unrestrained, the show is a raunch-fest of leather clad temptresses whose jaw-dropping athleticism and physical capability send the blood pressures of even female attendees soaring!
Celebrated producers Angela and Matt Sabile are a force to be reckoned with for adult entertainment. Defying both the economic downturn and expert prediction, their steamy all-girl “X Burlesque” revue has drawn audiences in excess of 4 million since it's opening in 2004. It further acted as a launchpad for the equally erotic “Men of X” revue, which now shares the revived showroom at Hooter's plush hotel resort. Keen to redefine the seedy image of Vegas strip joints, the couple have even gone so far as to open the “X University”, giving patrons the chance to kick-start their own careers and access mentoring from some of the leading dancers in the business!
Provocative and feisty, Raack and Roll seeks to pick up where the classier X Burlesque leaves off. Set to the raunchy backing of hardcore rock classics, Raack and Roll leaves little to the imagination. Hosted by veteran stand-up Robert Nash, the revue comprises a line-up of just five gorgeous women, (including the sumptuously proportioned Lisa Canon) each conveying a deliciously unique on-stage persona. With her raven locks and ample assets, Tracy Vetmaier is ideally suited to the role of head rebel, tantalizing fans with legs-akimbo air guitar for the “Hell, Yeah!” opener by AC/DC. Reveling in her bit as a voyeur's fantasy, buxom blond Andrea Caldwell-Hall is equally scintillating during the bathtub scene for “Too Late For Love”. Robert Nash provides some often unwelcome, yet naturally hilarious diversions to the main entertainment, including uncanny impressions of Robert DeNiro, Al Pacino and weirdly, Kermit the Frog.
Strip revues are a mixed bag in Vegas, with many falling into the old-fashioned 'safe' category of peekaboo tease shows. Raack and Roll goes against the grain with a straight up extravaganza of topless beauties cavorting to a choice program of classic rock. Fronted by one of Vegas' best loved comedy impressionists, this is bespoke, variety entertainment as it should be – casual, sexy and no-holds barred!
