  • Budget the amount of money and time to be absorbed in the playing session. Plan ahead, and quit when the money is gone or the time is up. Do not chase losses on negative expectation bets.
  • In a similar vein, budget some percentage of money won to go back into the pocket and not back into the machine.
  • Take full advantage of slots club and player loyalty programs.
  • Select the machine to play according to the payout schedule, looking for those that pay more often at the lower levels.
  • Try several machines. Some will just be more fun for the player, or seem more willing to create wins. Much of this is subjective, but the casino experience is totally subjective anyway. Don’t persist with a machine that’s hard to understand, or stingy or no fun. Remember, each play is independent of the other. There’s no such thing as an “investment” in a machine.
  • Machines with higher pay backs might be advertised or identifiable by slot floor managers. Ask about the machines with the best “par” for the player.
  • Newcomers should start out with lower bet, simpler machines (like three reel machines) and work up from there.
  • Play the max bet on a progressive machine so as to qualify for the jackpot.
