Wildlife Habitat at the Flamingo
An oasis of calm amid the chinking coin slots and neon glare of Las Vegas' 24-hour attractions, the Flamingo Hotel and Casino's Wildlife Habitat is a serendipitous discovery that for a while, transports you to an altogether more tranquil haven of beauty and nature. Resplendent with ornamental lagoons, lush green shrub beds and gushing waterfalls, the entire Flamingo Park offers endless photo opportunities, among some of Las Vegas' most vibrant bird species.
Over 300 birds call the Flamingo Wildlife Habitat home. Graceful flamingos daintily strut along the shores of the ornamental lagoons, while playful koi carp can often be seen basking in the sunshine, just beneath the surface of crystal clear streams. Ducks aplenty break up the neon pink of clustered flamingos and elegant grey swans patrol the shorelines like sentries on duty. One cannot fail to notice the majestic and rather exotic Impeyn silver pheasants strutting their stuff among the foliage of flower beds, their golden head crests like feathered crowns – one of the most photographed species at Flamingo Park. Birds aren't the only species to call Flamingo Park home. An abundance of terrapins and tortoises can often be seen sunning themselves upon the rocks of the stream, alongside tenacious lizards keen to ruffle a few flamingo feathers.
Take a wander along the meandering paths or merely sit and enjoy the tranquility of a space, surprisingly only yards from the Strip. Don't forget to stop at the monument before you leave, dedicated to the Flamingo Hotel's mobster founder, Benjamin “Bugsy” Siegel!
